Every parents ultimate goal

When it comes to helping children with autism become more independent there are heaps of little things you can do that end up making a big difference in your child’s future…

I’m talking about using some great, inexpensive products and things you can even make yourselves that will help make your day easier and build your child’s independence.

Because ultimately that’s what every parents goal is, right?…

For our children to be independent. For them to do as many things themselves as possible.

So today I thought I’d share some of these things with you. These are all techniques I’ve tried over the years and I’ve seen other families try that have worked wonders for building independence.

See what things you could change in your family to help your child be more independent. But remember not everything will work for every child, so just pick out a few things that will work for your family and give it your best shot.

Here’s my list of “big things” that will help your child become more independent:

– Visual Picture Reminders for everyday tasks
– Que cards of conversation topics
– Checklists of every day “to do’s”
– Visual timetables
– Written schedules
– Visual timers
– Colour coded jobs/activities or items e.g. coloured stickers for breakfast items
– A “Job prioritising app”
– Voice recorders for reminders
– First and Then Boards
– Alarmed timers

To hear exactly how to use each of these techniques join “The Unlimited Autism Success Inner Circle” where I’ll be explaining in much more detail how and when you can use these techniques.

When you’re a member you’ll also discover even more ways to help you build your child’s independence and develop further in every area of their development.
