There’s something you need to know about me…
It’s slightly embarrassing so I’m just going to come out with it…
I’m a little bit of Christmas fanatic.
(Ok thats a lie. I’m a total Christmas fanatic!)
And if there’s one thing that bugs more than anything around Autumn /winter time…
It’s those irritating moaning people who say…
“It’s only October/ November why is there Christmas stuff out already!”
I mean why are they complaining?
I don’t get it.
Plus shops put Christmas things on sale so early because…. They sell!
It happens every year and I personally think these people should suck it up and get used to it!
(And stop ruining the christmas spirit!)
This whole thing got me thinking…
How much of life do we just expect children with autism to just “get used to”..
And how much do they struggle with this concept?
You see personally I’m very back and forth with the idea of children with autism just “getting used to the world because it ain’t changing.”
I mean doesn’t it make sense to help children with autism understand our confusing world rather than expect them to “just get used to it”…
Like by…
Providing a child with a marked on calendar to help them understand when their granny is coming to visit.
Or by teaching the instructions and rules to “stuck in the mud” at home so it isn’t so daunting playing it in the school playground.
These are just small things that can make a huge difference in their world.
After all it never hurt to give someone a helping hand along the way.
(And what better time to help someone than at Christmas!)
