Love All Year Round!

As I’m sure you are well aware that today is February 14th, Valentines Day!

The day when we exchange chocolates, flowers and sentimental gifts to our loved ones.

I must admit the novelty of Valentines Day hasn’t yet worn off for me. I am a hopeless romantic at heart and thoroughly enough the whole day…

….except for one thing that is…

Those people/ couples that spoil the pants off their partner for that ONE day…

…and don’t forget…

Post photos of their extravagant gifts over every social media platform there is.

The idea of someone, anyone, going out of their way and make HUGE amounts of effort to have ONE perfect day seems a little ridiculous to me.

I’m lying…

It seems COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS.

Personally, I think it shouldn’t take ONE day in the year to show your loved one how special they are to you.
(I told you I was a hopeless romantic!)

But seriously,

This ridiculousness got me thinking…

Would you go out of your way and make a HUGE effort for ONE day when teaching an Autistic child?

I know some schools do on “observation day” (but that’s a whole separate email!)

We wouldn’t, would we?

And more to the point, WE SHOULDN’T!

If ONE day a teacher walked into their classroom with brand new resources on each table, a rush of energy and a whole new way of teaching. But then the next day, went back to the old resources and old ways of teaching, do you think the children will have a CLUE whats going on?

Is that even fair?

Of course it isn’t.

One thing I always say when advising Parents/Carers and Teachers of Autistic children is….

…BE CONSISTENT!

Consistency and patience are 2 of the key the ingredients when working with, raising and supporting our Autistic children.

Happy Valentines Day Everyone,

Love all year round :)

Speak with you soon until then,

Live every moment, Love beyond words and make a difference today!
