I have a confession to make…

I have a confession to make…

I bought something yesterday that I’m a tiny bit embarrassed about…

I went out and bought an adult colouring book.

Oh, and 12 brand new arty colouring pencils!

*looks round for approval*

You see, I have friends that have them and I always had the common opinion…

“Colouring books are for children.”

But I have to bite my tongue now because I have discovered they are actually very therapeutic.

It’s true you know!

I needed a hobby where I could shut off from the world and drift away for a while.

Know what I mean?

It doesn’t matter how wonderfully rewarding my work is and how much I adore it….

It is exhausting.

I give every thing I have to my clients.

And I don’t regret it for a second…

But I’ve realised that I need to give back to myself in order to be better for them.

So I went and bought an adult colouring book.

And let me say I’m thoroughly enjoying my new hobby!

Is this something you can relate to?

Do you ever feel totally drained and exhausted from caring for your child and like you need to give back to yourself?

Is there something can you do to switch off?

Because it doesn’t matter how much I or any other specialist talk about ways to help your child with autism…

If you’re not helping yourself first, you won’t be able to give them everything you’ve got.

So, what are you going to take up doing so that you can give back to yourself and help your child better?

While you’re here…

I wanted to talk to you about my members only club that I call…

The “Autism Information and Advice Club.”

Every month members get a 12 page newsletter where I give away my best tried and tested strategies to…

Encourage communication at home…

Promote sibling bonds…
